World of Issliss is a flexible storytelling setting created by Veronica Ripley, and encompasses everything from tabletop roleplaying games to books.
A thousand years ago, humans tried to invade a land dominated by intelligent, dangerous monsters...

They failed.

A huge arachnid called a Kasat looms over the silhoutte of three humans. It is long and blue, lit from below and though its face is in shadow, its many golden eyes peer down at the humans below.
A kasat towers over several humans
Issliss as a setting takes place a thousand years after the failed invasion by humankind, and the stranded humans have long been integrated into a society that still resents humanity.

Issliss itself is a continent of teeming jungles, gargantuan trees, hypnotic swamps, mystical tundras and swirling deserts. The landscape of Issliss is as much a character as any other, as cruel and vengeful as any terrible mind which seeks to control it.

The continent of Issliss is divided politically and dominated by three major sentient species of ruler, collectively called "Sentients":
Each species of Sentient controls a different swath of the continent, and while each jostle for power and influence in different ways, all of them use humans as political pawns in their schemes.

Tenuous treaties struck in the wake of the failed invasion by humankind tie the claws of the Sentient governments from committing to all-out war with each other, but each realm still maintains standing militaries; this time staffed by human soldiers.
The Rabbit Crushing Machine
Two creatures which appear to be rabbits with legs barely big enough to hold their prodigious bodies innocently cuddle on the floor.
The only source of Effluvium: Fluves
Wherever humans go, animals are sure to join us. During the failed invasion, humans loosed upon the wilds of Issliss the scourge beasts called “Rabbits,” and over the last thousand years, Issliss has changed them. Now a multitude of subspecies, each unique “Rabbit” bears little resemblance to the original. The most common of these are called “Fluves,” enormous creatures which are not intelligent enough to feed alone and must be hand fed by (usually human) ranchers.

Fluves are bred en mass to sell to the cities which process them in droves to be rendered into a unique fuel source called “Effluvium," which powers every modern convenience from indoor lighting to mechanical limbs and without which the modern world would crumble into barbarous ruin.
Technology of Issliss
A group of four humans face the viewer. A young man in a mustard shirt is crouched in thought. A sturdy woman in blue and grey holds an object. An elderly man dressed in robes with a prosthetic leg holds a glass bottle above his head. A thin person dressed in wraps and robes sits on a stool reading loose papers.
Humans are everywhere in the World of Issliss.
As a technological analogue, Issliss bears similarities to the Edwardian era or early Wild West. However, the fuel known as “Effluvium” has changed the world drastically – now it is common to find miniaturized mechanical marvels powered by a volatile, frigid chemical compound derived from the “rabbit-crushing machine.” Indoor lighting, timekeeping, and even mechanical limbs are powered by the blood of the modern age.

Speaking of mechanical limbs, Issliss is a harsh world, and it is not uncommon to find humans with various extraordinary prosthesis, implants, and adaptive gear. Mechanical arms which serve to hide contraband, mechanical limbs from scaling sheer walls, special visors which allow the wearer to see in the dark – these contraptions are common in the world of Issliss, and their use is necessary for participation is a society which is not built to accommodate the human form.
Experience Issliss
The team at Fablescraps has worked tirelessly since 2022 to refine and develop the World of Issliss. We even created a whole dice system to accommodate the world (easy to learn, fast paced combat, meaningful progression, etc.) We call it VECTORs, short for (Vigor, Endurance, Cunning, Temperment, Observation, Reflexes). It's a 3d6 system, meaning players typically will roll 3 6-sided-die instead of the usual d20. We're very proud of the feedback we've gotten in playtesting, and we're sure you're going to have a great time at your table enjoying the Issliss 1e Core Rulebook, slated for release in March of 2026.

We're so confident you'll love the world, we'd like to give you our Quickplay Guide for FREE! The Issliss QPG has everything to get you set up: premade characters, basic rules, we even included a short adventure to help teach your table how to play with VECTORs! Check out Fablescraps to get a copy for yourself.

It's not just TTRPGs for Issliss - creator Veronica Ripley is always creating more content. From a live play production sponsored by Twitch, to a novel and various short stories, the World of Issliss is always growing, pulsing, and rippling with new adventures and lore.
